Holy shit, the want is SO strong for one of these puppies (really just the G27). Maybe I'll buy myself a G27 after acquiring a job to go with the gaming PC I want to build....
Sigh.

Bummer cus they had them cheaper on amazon with black friday.
Someone earlier posted a fanatec wheel deal which rings in at 300 shipped.
I've got a G25 mounted to a shelf that I'm using, but what I'd like to do one day is make an ottoman that folds out and has a real car seat.

That's a sweet idea. Too bad on the black friday deal, but I can't afford it anyway right now :(
One semester to go before I can start making at least some money haha.
How do you like the g25?

it's lots of fun, but not perfect.
The wheel has a nice feel to it but the shifter and the pedals aren't how I like it.
Leather wrapped with real metal feels so nice. And a good motor that'll give you some feedback. I wish it was a little bigger but that's as far as my complaints for the wheel go.
The shifter has a light, almost styrofoam filled knob on it and sometimes the game doesn't always find 3rd. it could be my specific unit though. Also, it's awkward to reach past the stick in order to use the d pad or the face buttons so if you're using an automatic (or are letting someone play who uses it) it's a bit of a faff when they go to try and reverse
The pedals are actually really close together if you have shoes on and they're not adjustable. Also the pedal feel is a little weird. The clutch is very on/off feeling.
But without breaking the bank, or you know, spending the cost of a real car, it puts the old DFGT and driving force wheels I used to use in the dust.

Thanks man, appreciate the insight!
I just finished watching GT academy season 2... makes me want to do racing sims so much worse lol.

They're a lot of fun, but you can sink a lot of money into them. I play Gran Turismo and Forza casually (when my xbox is working on the latter) but I've not really decided to spend the money on the PC sims yet. That's where the real competition is at though. I've got a rig to run it, AMD based 8 core with 16 gigs of ram though the graphics card isn't anything to boast about.
I had to look at a friend of mine funny who was confused when I sat at his setup and did right foot braking in iRacing in a spec MX-5

I have a setup similar to that and it goes unused unfortunately because I just don't have the space at college. I need to upgrade though because it is just the xbox 360 wheel and pedals which work but aren't really all that great. I have the TV, speaker system, and PC to have something really nuts but I can't justify spending $200~$300 on something I would use occasionally.
